SPRING 2012
RECITAL INFORMATION
WHO:
Here’s the the recital schedule for Eve’s students and “group-only” students. Jeannie and Karen will arrange recitals at other times for their students.
“Group-only” students are those who come to us for group lessons from teachers other than Jeannie, Karen and me. Those students should email Eve to request participation in a particular recital. If her recital schedule doesn’t work, “group-only” students may ask Jeannie and/or Karen if there is room on one of their recitals.
There is limited space on each recital. Please look at the schedule below and tell Eve at your next lesson when you’d like to play. We’ll discuss which piece you’ll play.
WHERE:
These recitals will be in the Rehearsal Hall at the Cultural Arts Center. If you enter the building through the glass doors, on the level of the Music Center, it’s the first room on the right.
WHAT HAPPENS AT RECITAL:
Most students will play one piece as a solo with piano accompaniment. I like students’ first recital or two to be played with others so that we have complete assurance of a happy experience. We’ll arrange small groups of “Twinklers” or “Pre-Twinklers” to play together and we’ll work out a routine.
There will be a pianist, Amanda Matthews, to accompany them. She knows all of this music very well and will not need to practice with students before the recital.
DRESS:
Dressy, not formal. It’s up to you to decide what that is. Whatever makes you feel special and happy when you’re in the spotlight. Be sure you can play in the clothing you choose, particularly the shoulders and sleeves of shirts and jackets.
There are PARTIES AFTER SPRING RECITALS
Everyone brings either food, drinks or supplies. If you would prefer to bring drinks or supplies, let Eve know so that we have the amount needed.
WHEN:
Choose one of the times below and tell me at your lesson. “Group-only” students should email or telephone me.
RECITAL PREP:
This is your chance to play your piece in front of others so that you can see what happens under pressure and work out the kinks before recital. Plan to stay for the scheduled hour so everyone has an audience and you get to do some of your listening and observation.
