Brillante Strings Performance Tour 

Munich, Vienna, Salzburg 

April 3-11, 2015 

Brillante Strings and In Mozart’s Footsteps are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity for orchestra members and their families. Come with us to experience the culture, history, and music of three incredible European cities. Brillante Strings will perform concerts in Vienna and Salzburg, and have musical and educational adventures throughout the eight days. 

Just some of the highlights are 

 Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles near Munich; the Disney Castle was modeled after Neuschwanstein 

 Tours of the Vienna State Opera House and other locations where musical history happened 

 Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace, the second-largest palace in Europe 

 “The Sound of Music” Tour in Salzburg, visiting many of the filming locations from the movie 

 A concert by the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, featuring some of Europe’s finest young musicians, in Vienna’s spectacular Musikverein 


Itinerary 

Friday, April 3, fly to Europe 

 6:55 p.m., non-stop flight from Charlotte to Munich 


Saturday, April 4, arrival in Munich 

 land in Munich at 9:45 a.m. (local time) 

 group lunch 

 walking tour of Munich with a local guide 

 group dinner 


Sunday, April 5, Munich (Easter Sunday) 

 breakfast in hotel 

 attend church with large chorus at one of Munich’s largest churches 

 group lunch 

 visit two famous castles: Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau 

 group dinner at the famous Hofbrauhaus 


Monday, April 7, Munich to Vienna 

 breakfast in hotel 

 take bus to Vienna ( 5 hours) 



 lunch during bus ride 

 walking tour of Vienna with a local guide 

 group dinner 


Tuesday, April 7, Vienna 

 breakfast in hotel 

 visit House of Music, interactive musical museum 

 see the famous golden statue of Johann Strauss 

 group lunch 

 tour of the Vienna State Opera House 

 rehearse 

 group dinner 

 perform concert 


Wednesday, April 8, Vienna 

 breakfast in hotel 

 Schönbrunn Palace & Zoo 

 group lunch 

 central Cemetery (graves of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Strauss, others)

Thursday, April 8, Vienna to Salzburg

Saturday, April 11, Travel day

 bus to Munich Airport (2 hours) 

 12:25 p.m., non-stop flight from Munich landing in Charlotte at 4:20 p.m. (local times)

 8 nights in hotels (double and triple occupancy) 

 Round-trip flights between Charlotte and Munich 

 Charter bus transportation between cities 

 Almost all meals (see itinerary for days where only two meals are included)

 Several educational and trip-planning sessions with Dr. Nelson before the trip 


Registration and Price 

 The trip price, including airfare and everything else listed above, is $3550 

o If you arrange your own flights, the cost is $2205. (See information on the web page about meeting the group in Munich.) 

 The deposit is $500, due by November 7. 

o Registration and deposit are done online, see www.inmozartsfootsteps.com/brillante 

 The balance is due by February 15 

 The deposit is refundable before December 1. The deposit and any other payments become non-refundable on December 2. 

 This is based on a minimum of 32 total travelers. 

o In addition to at least 26 fully-paying students and family members, the following persons are included in the total of 32 travelers: 

o Two teachers (Jeannie Sykes and Karen Collins) 

o One accompanist 

o Two chaperones who receive a 50% discount 

o Dr. Nelson
