POLICY FOR MAKEUP LESSONS:  LESSONS MISSED FOR CONFLICTS NOT COVERED IN THE POLICY WILL BE FORFEITED UNLESS STUDENTS FIND ANOTHER STUDENT WHO CAN SWITCH LESSON TIMES WITH THEM.

I have devoted a spot in the schedule to you and I devote a lot of time (group lessons and concerts) that isn't tallied in your bill.  It is extremely difficult to rearrange a full schedule.  I will make-up lessons under the conditions listed below.  Please do not ask for exceptions; such discussions put a strain on our relationship.

1)   ILLNESS OR EMERGENCY: To be eligible for a makeup lesson, I must be telephoned the day of the lesson, before 1:00 p.m. weekdays or 8:45 a.m. on Saturdays.  If you do not reach me in person, leave a voice message on my cell phone.                                                                                           Do not come to in-person lessons sick.  I have no sick-pay to cover lessons I miss when I catch your illness.

2)  CONFLICTS WITH REQUIRED WORK OR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, OR MAJOR RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS (not social events, sports, birthdays or church picnics) If I am notified at lease one week in advance, each student may makeup a total of 2 lessons per year for such conflicts.  You know these days are coming.  Please plan ahead.

3) TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES: Please make sure that you equipment is ready and working at lesson time.  If you are having a Zoom lesson from your usual location, I will make up lessons that are interrupted because the online connection isn't working.  If you are trying to have a lesson on vacation without having tested the connection, the lesson will note be made up.

4) POWER OUTAGES: If your power or mine is out due to weather events, I will make it up. If your power is out, let me know as soon as you are able.   I will leave an outgoing message on my cell phone, 336-580-5046, to say if I will be able to have lessons.  I will also try to send an email. Please call my cell phone and leave a voice message to say whether or not you can come. You may also call 336-373-2547.  This is the number for the Education Director at The Music Center.  I will call him/her by 1:00 so that my plans will be included in the voice mail announcement.

4) TEACHER ABSENCE:  I will makeup any lessons I cancel.

5) GROUP LESSONS will not be made up.

6) If your conflict isn’t covered in the makeup policy, you may switch lesson times with someone. Notice lesson lengths & tell me about the switch. All students involved in the switch are responsible for keeping it straight.

All area codes are 336, unless listed otherwise.
